Biography

Ada Lovelace (1815–1852) was an English mathematician and writer, chiefly known for her work on Charles Babbage's proposed mechanical general-purpose computer, the Analytical Engine. She was the first to recognize that the machine had applications beyond pure calculation and published the first algorithm intended to be processed by a machine — essentially the first computer program. She was the daughter of the poet Lord Byron.

Sun in Sagittarius: what it says about Ada Lovelace

Ada Lovelace's Sagittarius Sun saw possibilities a century before their time. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter — the planet of vision, expansion, and the ability to perceive the big picture. While others saw Babbage's Analytical Engine as a glorified calculator, Lovelace's Jupiterian imagination saw a machine that could compose music, produce graphics, and process symbolic logic. She was a philosophical gambler, betting on a future that wouldn't arrive until the 20th century. The Sagittarian love of synthesis appears in her ability to bridge poetry (her father was Byron) and mathematics — she called it "poetical science."

✦ Astro Quote
The Ancients do enjoyn us seriously to consider of present Solar and Lunar Eclipses, and there is something therein to be considered; but in reality I declare, that nothing of that powerful efficacy ever appeared unto me as they have delivered and given caution of, I mean Eclipses operate not with that violence, or so terribly as the Ancients have recorded and left in their writings to posterity, however they are with moderation to be handled; and the truth is, they do rather work generally than particularly. - William Lilly (1602.-1681.)
