Quick Start Guide
While you can use basic features without an account, registration allows you to:
- Save unlimited charts for yourself, family, and friends
- Quick access to your saved charts from any device
- Personalized planetary hours based on your birth chart
- Chart history tracking and management
How to register:
1. Click the "Register" button in the top-right corner
2. Fill in your name, email, username, and password
3. Click "Register" to create your account
4. You're ready to go!
What you'll need:
- Birth date (day, month, year)
- Birth time (hour, minute, AM/PM)
- Birth place (city or location name)
- Time zone information (DST/Standard Time)
Steps:
- Go to Calculate → Horoscope in the main menu
- Enter a name for this chart (e.g., "My Chart", "John Doe")
- Fill in the birth date and time
- Start typing the birth place - autocomplete will suggest cities
- Select the correct location (coordinates will auto-fill)
- Verify DST (Daylight Saving Time) setting
- Click "Calculate"
After calculation, you'll see a menu with several options:
- Personality - Core personality traits and characteristics
- Planets in Houses - How planets express themselves in life areas
- Planets in Signs - Planetary placements in zodiac signs
- Houses in Signs - House cusp interpretations
- Aspects - Angular relationships between planets
- Planets Today - Current planetary transits vs. your natal chart
- Planetary Hours - Best times for activities based on your chart
- Save - Save this chart to your collection (login required)
Click any option to view detailed interpretations and insights.
To save a chart (login required):
- After calculating a chart, click Save in the chart menu
- If a chart with the same name exists, it will be updated
- Otherwise, a new chart will be saved to your collection
To access saved charts:
- Go to My Account → Saved Charts in the main menu
- You'll see a table with all your charts, including:
- Name and birth place
- Date of birth
- Date when saved
- Quick action buttons: Chart and PH Today
- Click Chart to recalculate and view the full chart
- Click PH Today for today's planetary hours for that person
Planetary Hours is an ancient timing technique that helps you choose the best times for specific activities.
Two Ways to Access:
- General (no chart needed): Go to Calculate → Planetary Hours
- Enter your current location
- See today's 24 planetary hours
- Use general planetary correspondences
- Personalized (with your chart): Calculate or load a saved chart, then click Planetary Hours
- Shows hours rated 0-10 based on YOUR natal chart
- Color-coded favorability (Excellent, Good, Neutral, Challenging, Avoid)
- Takes into account your planet strengths and weaknesses
Transits show where planets are RIGHT NOW in relation to your birth chart.
How to view transits:
- Calculate or load a saved chart
- Click Planets Today in the chart menu
- See:
- Current positions of all planets
- Your natal positions for comparison
- Aspects (angular relationships) between transiting and natal planets
- Integration with today's planetary hours
Understanding Aspects:
- Conjunction (0°) - Strong emphasis, merging energies
- Sextile (60°) - Opportunity, easy flow
- Square (90°) - Challenge, tension, growth
- Trine (120°) - Harmony, natural flow
- Opposition (180°) - Awareness, balance needed
Common Questions
Ideally, yes. The more accurate your birth time, the more precise your chart. House positions and angles (Ascendant, Midheaven) change quickly throughout the day. If you don't know your exact time, you can use:
- 12:00 PM (noon) - for a "solar chart"
- Sunrise time - approximate if born in the morning
- Check your birth certificate for the recorded time
DST is when clocks are set forward by one hour during warmer months. If you were born during DST period (typically March-November in Northern Hemisphere), select "Yes" for DST. If you're unsure, the system will try to auto-detect based on your birth date and location, but it's best to verify with local records.
Yes! You can calculate and save charts for family, friends, or anyone else. Just enter their birth information and give each chart a unique name (e.g., "Mom", "John Smith", etc.). All charts are private and only visible to you when logged in.
The astronomical calculation engine has been in continuous use since 1984 (41+ years!) and has been validated across multiple platforms. Planetary positions are calculated using proven mathematical formulas. For maximum accuracy, always provide exact birth time and verify the birth location coordinates.
Astropractice uses the Placidus house system, one of the most widely used house systems in Western astrology. This system divides the ecliptic based on time rather than space, creating houses of unequal size that reflect the Earth's rotation.
Yes. All user data is protected with:
- Bcrypt password encryption
- CSRF protection on all forms

- Your charts are private and only visible to you
