Sun in Leo: what it says about Alfred Hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock's Leo Sun controlled every frame with regal authority. Leo is ruled by the Sun — the planet of creative ego, dramatic presentation, and the auteur who stamps his personality on everything he touches. Hitchcock's cameos in his own films are pure Leo: the need to be seen, to be the star even while making stars. His meticulous control over every aspect of production reflects Leo's fixed-fire nature — the king who rules his kingdom absolutely. The Leo gift for drama and spectacle made him a master of cinematic set pieces. The shadow: Leo's need to dominate extended to actresses whom he tried to control on and off screen.
